  1. HAHA! Funny thing.

I had people send me CRAZY emails too.

I just remove them myself and move on.
Easy, simple…. Let them play in someone
    else sandbox. 🙂

    Hi Devon,

I just wanted to let you know that it WASN’T me who sent out the potty mouthed e-mails.

I must compliment you on your great sense of humor.

    Keep up the good work.

    Colin Freedman

  4. What? Bitch ass didn’t like me sending that to you? Ha ha ha, tooo funny! People are funny thinking that their words are going to reach out through your monitor and put a choke hold on you or something. I think the worst thing that happens is when they put a report out on you that you are “SPAMMING” them.
Oh, and by the way I did not send that to you as a joke or anything else. Have a great day Devon!

    Doug

You are too funny!! Love getting your little video breaks during the day.

As for the email, well, it takes all kinds. Doesn’t it? But if you do decide you want to track his IP, hit me up … I have friends in low places. 🙂

  6. 3:29 pm on January 30, 2013

I received an angry e-mail from a subscriber the other day who was upset because I sent him a welcome e-mail when he opted in to my list. It is funny.

  7. Hi Devon, your rigth. In the beginning in my internet business entrprenuers I was very scared when a email like that came to my email box. I was giving to many explanations for nothing. I lost a good business for that. With the pass of years, I understood that those peoples like that always walk around. What to do with that people? Simply ignoroit. Smile like Devon and go ahead with your business 🙂 Congratulations for help people to dance in the cruiser.

    My Best Regards,
    Pepe

  8. Hi Devon,
Ive had emails like this before.
I do tend to reply pointing out that they opted in and confirmed, and the opt out process is clearly stated.

Once that’s done, I move on. If the reply is abusive after that I just ignore it, but at least the thought may be planted in the subscriber’s mind.

    Thanks for the share/reminder.
    Cheers,
    Gordon

You’ve got to just love Devon..he is just too funny!!! Anyhow…as far as potty mouths are concerned, I feel that if they can’t speak normal or eloquently, or conjugate a verb…they are dismissed!!!!!! Waste of time!!!!

  10. 3:32 pm on January 30, 2013

    Devon and Tera,

This is guaranteed to happen; lots of people have bad days, and if they can, spread it around to have company. All we have to do is to turn our acceptance switch OFF, and if we can man up to it, send them a short prayer of apology that they are having a bad day. The prayer helps us too. Then continue on having a great day ourselves. 🙂 Everyone has had and will have bad days; how many times have we lost it ourselves?

  11. 3:34 pm on January 30, 2013

Devon, When are you NOT being sexy?? 😉

  12. 3:40 pm on January 30, 2013

Don’t forget that there are also a lot of people who (usually in their beginning stages) subscribe/opt-in to just about everything they see (especially Newbies) trying to get all the freebies they can, or to gain some partial knowledge of how things work. But, once they see how much email they start receiving after a few weeks of doing this, and how difficulty it becomes to manage their emails, they realize they have to start unsubscribing to most (if not all) of their subscriptions in order to regain control of their email account (and their sanity) thereby reducing the possibility of info overload/confusion:

Ignorance isn’t always bliss! For ignorant or the informed.

    Devon
I have unsubscribe from people`s list for a variety of reasons.
    1) I am getting too many emails
    2) I am getting the same email sent by two or three different people
    3) I keep seeing the same names over and over again
    4) Some people put a heading that is not what the email is about: eg. `New website for you, Thousands of dollars offered that I am to have if I click in. I guess what I am saying is that if people can’t be honest with the headline, then why would I trust them. They demonstrated that they will do anything for money, they can’t be trusted, and they don’t care about other people. That’s why there out of my emails.

  14. 4:17 pm on January 30, 2013

    2 bad thing.

These are bound to happen. Some times people are very hard to please and some times they are as you said in the video they are angry. We surely live in a world that has angry people. Thankfully not every one though, there are some people like you Devon who are doing a great job helping so many people like my self.
I am thinking ‘hey this is good’ and seeing what I have seen so far and I’m feel very positive that you will finally “Show me the money”. That would be great after trying since 1999.

Your video explained the matter beautifully. Being forwarned about this is being forarmed so thank you.

    DK

  15. Sad fact….You cant please all the people all the time.

There are always sad people who we bump into. So just say ‘excuse me’ and walk on by!

They are the losers Dr Liz

  16. 4:36 pm on January 30, 2013

Hi, although it is quite funny when you say this in video, Devon, only last week, when I had my first “not nice” email, it really makes you feel bad….but not anymore, I am growing stronger to the negativity ! Nice to have your support, it keeps us going…you will have to do a “strength building ” video…
    Lou 🙂

Good Training, Devon: Never forget that this is a “BUSINESS”, although you can’t see them on the internet, yet, they are your customers who are drawn from this vast sea of humanity(or inhumanity). There are those who just want to complain, usually half-cocked and not thinking about the facts. A valuable product, presented honestly, and priced fairly with support(and can even been done for you), with money back guarantees? You’ve done all that is reasonable for a business person, move on, that’s right on. There is professional business ethic when dealing with the public and customers, regardless if you can see the people or not, and never forget this, IT IS A TWO WAY STREET, demand the same from your customers. This is novel and so very rare in my careers, but I have been in situations that no other recourse was left, I’ve actually FIRED people(2 in 48 years) from being my customers. Results, they became 2 of my best repeat customers and lead generators for the work I was doing. Don’t count on that happening, hhmmm, that’s what makes business exciting and interesting….you just never know. P.S. Could you or Tera teach me how to make paragraphs?

  18. Devon,
To me, any day where the subscribe is greater than the opt-out is a great day.

  19. 6:01 pm on January 30, 2013

Was this potty message sent to you devon or one of your clients gee I hope I get one I need A good laugh

  20. Hey Devon,
    Great stuff as usual.
Getting an unsubscribe now and again just means people are at least opening your mail. As for the nasty emails I did not feel like a “real” internet marketer until I got my first nasty reply. Maybe I’m just twisted but I actually enjoyed the idea that someone took the time to get angry over a stupid message I wrote months ago and put into an autoresponder. If they are that miserable in life that they have to lash out at a pre programmed message it just makes me appreciate how good I have it. 🙂

  21. Funny stuff, I had someone send me an e-mail told me I was the devil. I went into my Aweber account and removed them from my list, I figure they are a total waste of my time anyway. I didn’t take it seriously. These people should just opt out.

  22. 7:51 pm on January 30, 2013

    Hey Devon,

I agree with Dr. Liz, you CAN’T please ALL the people ALL the time. Plus it’s like water down a
ducks back just let it roll off your shoulders, don’t lower yourself to their standards, it’s NOT
worth it! Just keep being sexy and you’ll have no problems. 😎

  23. 11:11 pm on January 30, 2013

    That was awesome……. : )

  24. 3:54 am on January 31, 2013

    Hey Devon!

I must say that this is one of the best videos you have made! It`s just toooo funny 🙂

  25. 9:26 am on January 31, 2013

    Game, set match!!!!!!!!

  26. Devon,

Good advice to just delete them from your list and move on. To paraphrase a Proverb from the Bible, “It is best let people think you are a jerk than to send a vulgar email and remove all doubt”

    Regards,
    Ed Gilbert

  27. That happens to me on occasion and I usually just hit the unsubscribe link at the bottom of my email that they replied to.

  28. I would just Delete out of the autoresponder or send him a Higher Priced Offer ok just kidding

  29. 8:38 pm on January 31, 2013

Huh, somebody having a bad day at your expense . There all around was in line in a store couple days back. He was giving the clerk a pretty hard time . I popped of a rude phrase and he looked up at me and couldn’t come up with anything Impressive to say so he got his bags and started to walk away but he turned around and spit out some really bad words . About that same town Her Boy friend had walked up and he preceded to pick this guy over his head and heaved him out the front Door of the store . everyone in there started congratulated the guy and told him if he hadn’t came in when he did they were going to do basically the same thing. anyway you never Know when people will act stupid.

  30. To ignore such an email is the best policy.

  31. 8:43 pm on January 31, 2013

I can’t understand how people like that think, and my opinion is ALL of these foul mouthed people are not successful and are simply jealous of your success. If they were making money and truly happy, they wouldn’t waste their time posting anything ugly, let alone something as stupid and ugly as this remark, so yes, you just have to write these people off as major losers.

    Warmly,
    Corinne

  32. 10:34 pm on January 31, 2013

Well at least you’re letting ppl know it happens. I myself have unscribed alot. Usually cause i got bored with it. Too frequent emails etc. Good info. Funny earlier I left a reply to someone previously (you tube) and now they want your full name showing. Something else i figure out.

  33. 12:25 am on February 1, 2013

Hi Devon, I beleave that you can live without this type of people you dont need them at all.

I like your Videos, you have no Problems to entertain a Cruiseship exelent|||

    regards Lothar

  36. Hi Devon,

Great video with sound advise as usual 🙂

Your reply to the 5 subscribers from 50 in a day opting out is spot on, most likely that 5 just wanted the free opt-in gift because they only like free stuff and would never have bought anything from you or your recommendations anyway, so the way to look at it is – “I got 45 opt-ins Today, … Yay!”

Besides, if you use a service for your list and up until then you had 451 subs then if those 5 had stayed chances are you would never have made any income from them, but your monthly e-mail service bill just went up by 50%. (there’s a silver lining in almost everything)

As for the disgruntled subscribers, if they have a genuine gripe then yes you politely apologize and do whatever you can to fix things, if they are the type that just like sounding off for no reason then I find it’s far better to do the opposite and increase your politeness in equal measure (takes the wind right out of their sails) giving your best suggestion on a way they can resolve their issue, but if their abuse persists then most likely they’re just trying to needle you so just wish them all the very best in their future endeavors and unsubscribe them.

The old saying is true, you can’t please all of the people all of the time, so focus on the ones that you do please all of the time and cut loose the ones that you can’t please any of the time, after all you’re running a business and those are just dead weight.

    Hope that helps

    David.

Actually i have enjoyed the training especially exposing me to new ideas which i have not known before. Though i am anxious to learn more,i am trying to put more effort.

    THANKS.

  38. Hi Devon,
Very valuable and helpful video as usual. People will unsubscribe and some will
want to tell you how they feel about themselves and try to put that on you when
there is nothing wrong with you.

    Warmest Regards,
    Orlando

  39. I’m amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s equally educative and interesting,
and without a doubt, you have hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something that not enough men and women are speaking intelligently about.
I’m very happy I stumbled across this during my search for something concerning this.

I had a prospect unsubsribed who told me to stop sending him Internet Marketing Scams. I emailed him back and said thank you for unsubscribing. In addition, I told him to stop opting in to peoples list If he doesn’t want to receive Internet scams!
