Hey Everyone,

I hope you’re having a good start to your week 🙂

I was doing some coaching over the past week or so and something popped into my head.

It’s a question that I really wanted to ask the client who I was mentoring.

I was literally 2 seconds away from saying to him:

LOOK BRO, are you just in love with ________ OR are you _________?”

Find out what the “BLANKS” are in today’s video 🙂

So… what’d you think?

Did this hit home for you?

Would love to get your feedback on how you answered this question to yourself, so feel free to leave a comment below!

    Hi Devon,

In response to your question, I am in love with marketing not you, sorry!
I am married with two children and spend a lot of my time on the internet,
    browsing marketing websites.

    Kind Regards

    Sonia Ellis

You could not have said it any better….if people listen to what you just said…this video will be a game changer… thank you.

  3. Hi Devon,

So true what you are saying.

The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.

Many marketer’s, on and offline, ultimatley found their “overnight success” by doing the “required” work.

And, it most likely took them years of trail and error and not giving up before arriving at any degree of success.

Thanks for the pep talk and keeping it real.

    Willie

I’m in it for the money Devon!
I left a really crap job and am living on dwindling funds (I am at ground zero now actually).
I get up early every day and I spend all day working on what is now 3 different products (ebooks, articles, niche adsense site). Some nights I work till 3am.
Yes I do admit I get side tracked sometimes. I do my best to focus though. i don’t make any commitments to friends or my girlfriend, Mon – Fri, so that I can do this.
I do have a lot of worry and stress about maybe losing my home and so on.. but I have commited myself to this venture and I am going to make it work no matter what it takes!

PS – all I want to do with the money is pay off my mortgage so that I can continue doing this and enjoy doing it with less pressure!

PPS – It takes me a long time to get stuff working – I have been all day on one adsense site today and I am not finished yet.. will probably be another late night!

PPS – ‘Not sexy’ is how I am – sitting in my grey rocky tracksuit pants and tshirt 😀

  9. Hey Devon!

Once again, you’ve provided a rather interesting and thought-provoking question…

I have a great deal of respect for ANYONE and EVERYONE who decides to take control of his/her life by starting a business.

EVERYONE should have control over at least SOME of the Sources of Income that they generate, for their life. We should NEVER let someone else control 100% of how our Income is earned… When we allow others to control our money, we also give them control over our lives…

Back to the question at hand:-)

The fact of the matter is that when we start a business, we should approach it and treat it as a BUSINESS and NOT a HOBBY or charity cause. However, charity should be an integral part of every business.

    ***************************************************
Be Honest with YOURSELF & You WON”T have to Lie to Others:
    ***************************************************

When you look in the mirror and decide to evaluate the person whose looking back at you, you have to realize that he/she KNOWS exactly who you are and what your intentions are…

You have to think and act on a level of “self-honesty” that will help you to grow, each and everyday, as a person. When you do that the person that looks back at you in the mirror will always have your back…

It is also very difficult to Lie to yourself… That’s not to say that you can’t and don’t trick yourself from time to time. We ALL do that. But the important thing that ties into knowing who we are, as well as our realistic limitations, is also knowing that lots of GREAT THINGS are possible when we take positive, fast action, after we have done the necessary research to pursue our path to True Happiness…

When we take these few things into consideration, we won’t lie to others, because there won’t be a need to…

Basically, WE only LIE when we’re AFRAID:

    a) To be hurt ourselves (physically, emotionally, financially, spiritually)

    b) To hurt someone we love (because of something that we’ve done or said)

    ***************************
A Business About What We LOVE:
    ***************************

By starting a business based upon doing what we LOVE, we start off on a positive note and that is always a good thing. What we always have to remember is that just because WE LOVE it, doesn’t mean that everyone else will love it, too, or that people are willing to pay for it.

So I recommend taking a Business Idea that you LOVE and researching it, in an effort to make sure that there is a market that is also interested in the Product/Service that you LOVE.

If your Business Idea does the following then you’re on the right track:

    1. Helps others to help themselves
    2. Provides a Product/Service that solves a PROBLEM or ANSWERS a question for someone
    3. Helps to Stop Someone’s Pain
    4. Brings Someone Pleasure
    3. Provides TRUE, HONEST, VALUE in exchange for a fair PRICE

    ******************
    Preparation is the KEY:
    ******************

Falling in LOVE with the IDEA of a BUSINESS can be very heartbreaking, if you are NOT committed to doing the work that’s required to make that Idea come to life.

You really do have to make the sacrifices and go through some ups and downs, while you’re pursuing your “Vision” or it won’t really mean the same to you, or have the same value to you, when you look back over your Life…

Being able to answer, “WHY?” you want to start a business is just as, if not more important than the “WHAT?” business you want to start. I hear lots of people stressing that concept now, and it’s very true.

    *******************
    Your Are an Inspiration:
    *******************

Devon, I had a chance to meet you, last spring, at a Conference in Florida and I really appreciated you spending a little time talking with me. You were even kind enough to take a picture with me.

Your enthusiasm and honest approach to running your business is refreshing. For those people who only know you through your Blog, I have to say that you are exactly the same Krazy, Kool, intelligent young man that you appear to be.

Thanks for continuing to share your time, knowledge and insights with us.

    Hey Devon,

I think there is an important psychological component you are missing here. Your point is well taken, but I think the route cause of this split personality question is fear.

People with day jobs (most) trade time for money doing non-sexy things every day. The difference is that the job money (although relatively fixed with low growth potential) is virtually guaranteed to show up at the end of the week or month. Trading tasks on a risk such as a new Internet venture has no such guarantee and therein hides the fear. The fear that you will put in all this time, money, effort and hope and end up with bubcus.

Some of this is caused by a weak business and marketing plan. It is fostered by the huckster promises of the magic software button that will make you a million in your underwear (not white T-shirt).

I am just saying that it is a combination of belief system and good coaching that lead to success and overcoming the fear.

    Hi Devon,
Nice story wich happens everiday to millons)
If I’m in love with work. I love working and I love learnig new staff to improove my skils and make moremoney. Let me tell you a small story of my life. A 12 years ago I started an Agency for regional economic development in a town of 120000people. Where I invated the local biznes, Mayor of the town for four years this agency was one of the best in the Country. I had 4 colleagues by that time. I had a project supported by the NATO and ministry of deffence to convert the army barracks in a business park wich could create a lot of jobs. When I ask the people in power for the region to support the project by singhing it they ask me for money?. Then I realized that my dream to live in my town and make money and in the same time do something to the society will never come true. I left the agency to my coleagues whic still run it by the way and imigrate to the UK. I was 40years old that time. I started from the very very beginig in the cuonstruction. Then I passed all the test and become a track driver work 15-18h out of 24. Now I’m back t be close to my daughter and I’m looking for new chalenge, Internet business. Am I in love and dedicated for success?
    You bet.
I’m from eastern Europe and I hope this is not a problem, but mayby opportunity.

    Hi Devon,
I really like your question.I am in love with the idea that I could become wealthy and it is a really good feeling.
However it is not just a feeling or being in love with the idea, it is fear,in my circumstance as I really do not know a lot about the computer, I really want to learn and I have no fear in going the distance, I am willing to do whatever it takes, but I do not have the computer knowledge.
At this monent I work a eleven (11) hour day job 8:30 to 7:30 everyday just to make ends meet, and I am not not in my 20 0r 40 any more, but I still get on my computer trying to learn until 2 o3 am.

I am telling you this to say WORK Is Never too much for me provide I know What to do. This is where my fear is.I learn to use computer very late in life so it is a lot harder for me that you young folks. I learn but a lot slower and fear of messing up, which I have done so many times.
I think you are a good teacher so I hope you can help me to put that fear at bay and turn me into the entrepreneur that I so long to be.

I look forward to your reply.
God Bless, your are just Great
    Nedra

  15. I am always serious about making money. I just don’t always have enough to get started, especially with all the different programs out there; many of which I would like to try and see if they work or not. Which is why I am still working on getting my second domain up and running.

  16. Awesome as usual.

Success is Not a Dream, it’s a Must. I’m going forward.

Thanks Devon and have a Nice day ahead !

    Dear Devon,
I’m just in love with your Internet.
    Vladimir

  18. Devon, I have been following you for sometime now, and I must say, You hit a major point right on top of the head. I always like going after the being of a project, to learn all the deals of the project, But, the part of the work to make everything happen. I always find a new project.

  19. 5:22 am on January 17, 2012

    Devon,
I had to ask myself the question and really be honest with myself. I think for a long time I was in love with the thought of making money, and became fed up and disappointed when it did not happen. I spent thousands of $$$$$ sreveral years ago, bought programs and material, and did Nothing with them. I eventually lost out and still have this material sitting on shelves after losing coaching/help I paid for.

Right now, I’m at the point where I am seriously committed to make it happen, and finding it hard to stay motivated because of the lack of any “result.” It is hard putting in money and time, and it takes a while for something to happen. Anyway, like I said, I am committed, so I will just keep “doing” until the dam breaks.

What a funny question at least for me as I already told that I am trying to get some money for better living for me and my parents and family Do you think that one can love without this all at least I am not a guy to start loving ignoring my parents and family members How ever this I can admit that I love my mom and father and presently this is my love around me .

  21. Hey Devon , Cuban bro Here !

I agree my friend it takes ” work ” , ” dedication” and “self-discipline” to make it online
Man and I finally understood that from the school of Hard knocks. A friend of mine once
told me that ” Success is a straight line-mindset with bumps along the way ” He was right.

Devon simple put you are God Sent! You made me look at this from a real and true prospective that I never thought about. I really needed to hear this right now at this moment. Thank You.

  23. Hi Devon
I truly like the idea of the money that cam be made on line, and I know that inorderr to make it, that there is work involved to do so. I’m retired and 72 on a fixed income and I’m sure you know how that is. I know it is hard to get started, and if you try hard it can be done, but it has it’s up and downs. I have been able to read your every e-mail and I thank you for all the help you give, but if you keep going nowhere it is hard to keep on going. all I can say is thanks

    Rod

    Hi Devon,
I know I have been in love just with the idea of making money and not really comitted to making it.
I remember I once read that freedom and responsability go together, and that everybody wants freedom but not everyone wants responsability. And that’s the lesson I need to learn right now and start doing it.
We know many things,but…..Devon,thanks for the wake up call!
    Ivan.

  26. Devon 🙂

watching your videos are an Amazing mentoring that touches base with Factual reality in the Marketing industry. No need to go into whining about life take action and find a solution to the difficulty! I have learned and utilize so much of the training you give in this marketing choice that is the ultimate lifestyle goal. I have completed every portal thus far and have made nothing as of yet. This must be because I am missing something and will figure it out. I will succeed in this venture because I hang from a cliff over jagged rocks a mile below by only a thread and I will not fall or fail. The Videos you provide are an inspiration and mental development tool to the Internet lifestyle. You have no problem helping others to successful completion of their desires! For this I commend you Highly. Never have I found anyone that actually shows the steps necessary to achieve this Goal of having the internet lifestyle become reality. I have found that being 58 years old and trying to compete in the Job market is the most difficult task I have attempted to do. My life now has turned to Business! Internet Marketing, Your program on WebCopyCat is the vehicle that I firmly believe will drive me to fulfill desires. Thank you for being who you are and striving to aid others to be all they can be! Kinda like the Army slogan “Be all you can be”. Only they train you to be all you can be. You as well train others to be all they can be. Not meaning to butter you up here or give you a big head, your cocky attitude is big enough. HA. However I give credit where credit is due. I deal in Facts and Reality. What is IS, and you Are a worthwhile individual that many should aspire to become acquainted with and become affiliated with. Until again Tony.

  27. Hello Devon,
I am learning the ‘techie’ stuff daily. I did not have a computer until 2 years ago . I am learning
technology daily. Cut & paste, open tabs etc, are new techniques to me. What takes ‘youngsters
10 minutes, may take me 4 hours. Sometimes I want to hit the computer with a hammer.
I know, that is amateurish so I settle for a beer.

I open my Aweber daily & do not like my numbers. I know I need to post content & product to sell. To post internet marketing content, you have to know what is a ‘squeeze page’ or SEO,
or PPc,, upsells etc. You can not build trust if you post BS. because of lack of knowledge.

I know that I can ask you questions, but I have to have some knowledge of internet marketing to ask even a ‘dumb ‘ question.

I am committed to succeed or I will be ‘ committed.
Thank you for your time & commitment to ‘ we the students.
    Carl

I have done some very detailed work on a number of projects regarding internet marketing, including my last project which took several weeks with all the components of the squeeze page, the Filezilla FTP uploading, etc. Then, right as I was finishing the project, the most crucial file I needed to upload using Filezilla FTP somehow got corrupted! All that work and nothing to show for it — how discouraging!! Then I happened upon Web Copy Cat. I finished TWO projects in 9 days and it only took that long because I insist on reading and reviewing everything that’s associated with me and customizing everything that comes from me. Then it took a little while (like 1-2 days) to find advertising in my budget to get my ads exposed to over 100,000 people for under $40. But, overall, it was less work and took less time than anything else I’ve tried. The main work is already done, then just rinse & repeat, nurture & maintain your list. What else would I be doing if I weren’t doing this to secure the future? So, am I committed? Absolutely!! 🙂
