This article is courtesy of Melanie Williamson. Melanie has been a successful work-from-home-mom (WAHM) for 7 years. Having no formal business background or business education prior to venturing out on her own, she learned a great deal along the way, and she loves sharing what she has learned with other work-at-home-moms.

One of the best things you can do as a work at home mom is create a network of resources to help you accomplish your goals. These resources may include help with your kids, help with household chores, help with shopping or help with your business. I wrote an article a couple months ago on the Joys of Outsourcing, which is worth reading. It will help you dispel any stigma you may feel towards hiring help.

In addition to these types of sources, there are also a number of online sources that can provide you with organization, ideas, education, networking and more. There are also a wide variety of online resources designed to provide help and encouragement to home business entrepreneurs and work at home moms, specifically.

However, something you want to avoid is spending too much time looking for support. Being aware of and reading blogs that offer help, advice, tips and more is great, and it can do a lot to help your business. However, just like social media, it can be a major time sucker. You’ll think you’re working because you are at your computer during work hours reading work-related articles, but in reality you are getting nothing done.

Here is how you get the benefits of online support without the drag on your productivity. Put time limits on yourself. Set a timer if you need to. Decide how much time you want to devout each day to reading articles that may help you improve your business.

Thank you!
