Ok, Today I’m gonna talk about one of the biggest topics that plagues the minds of internet marketers and home business entrepreneurs…

The “Traffic Truths” I’m about to reveal on this video may be a little unpleasant for some of you. But I’m here to be HONEST, not to make you feel all yummy and tingly inside! 😛

I just hope you got a good basic overview and you now understand why you may at times be feeling frustrated with regard to getting traffic to your site (given all of the hype & BS out there regarding the topic).

    Everybody’s worried about TRAFFIC,TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC…BUT the REAL question is
    “What are you sending the traffic TO?”

    Are you capturing the emails of the people landing on your site.


    Would you know what to do Even if you had unlimited amounts of traffic and
    a way to capture visitor info?

    Those are very important questions, but the Answers are even more important!!

    Also, I’m not sure if “Free” traffic is by definition “free”

    Reason. Because Time is a cost and Energy is a cost.

    It’s a trade off between time, money and energy.

    You may very well get “free” traffic, but then how much time and energy are you willing
    or able to spend.

    Personally, I would much rather spend the money and keep my time and energy for
    other things!

    That’s my 2 cents…

    As I and many of your subscribers have come to expect, you continue to provide SOLID, “No B.S. Content” in you video posts…

    This week’s post on Traffic is no exception. Your rant about focusing on doing those things that will keep us moving forward in our businesses, with regard to the type of Traffic that we pursue was very helpful. Oftentimes, I find myself doing waaaaaaaaaay too much, on waaaaaaaaaaaay too many different things, and as a result, become burned out and frustrated:-(

    Well, since I resigned from my full-time Professorship, to work on my Media Publishing Business-full-time, and spend more time with my family:-) I find that giving up, settling for so-so results, and being lazy is NOT an option…

    Sometimes it takes a young, smart, go-getter, like YOU, to remind me of what I used to do, and how I used to adapt to my environment, to create my own success.

    With that said, I just wanted to say thank you for reminding me so much of who and what I always have been, and have always done, even though now I’m a Grandpa whose knocking on 50’s door 🙂

  4. Hi Devon,

    Another great video that hit the nail on the head as always and had me chuckling too 🙂

    You picked the big one first in traffic generation, not always easy as it’s never an exact science.

    SEO is always a hard nut to crack, so many variables to take into account plus if you do manage to get you site to page one then chances are it won’t stay there for very long, I’m glad you also mentioned forums as that method is far easier as you are talking directly to your prospective customers rather than trying to impress a third party (the search engines) enough to put your offer in front of their clients.

    Paid traffic is far more stable but you do have to make sure the add you place is very compelling and your site converts well when the traffic arrives so you can cover your costs and hopefully earn a few bucks, if the conversion is poor then you could end up loosing your shirt.

    I whole heartedly agree that the traffic should always be sent to a squeeze page first rather than a paid offer, unless the advertiser is the one selling the product directly (with an opt-in form also included on the sales page) otherwise that advertiser isn’t building their own business, they’re just taking on a percentage of the product owner’s advertising costs.

    Yep, grab the sign-up first and foremost and make the offer later, after all that’s what autoresponders are for 🙂 plus you then have a “captive audience” for the next offer, and the next, and …

    It’s kinda cool, cos everything you’ve been talking about today Devon has come to a head recently, and I’m totally on the same page as you… it’s a good feeling cos I know now I actually get it! 🙂

    I’m now focusing on forum, social media and blog commenting traffic not just for the traffic, but more just to socialize with and help people. My blog is all about branding and building a relationship…. and my squeeze… … … (pointy finger)… haha… is just fine… ony thing I need to work on there is being more consistent with split testing! 😮 (shock)

    I thought I might put out there that press releases are a great form of paid traffic too, for branding purposes… if that’s what someone’s in to. 🙂

    P.S I just did some math tonight… and for the benefit of everyone here… here it is.

    Say I want 1 sale online a week… a good first goal for someone starting out…

    If my blog converts people to my squeeze page at 10%

    and my squeeze converts at 30%

    and my backend converts at 30% – with no recurring revenue at all! (which would just be silly behaviour haha)

    Then I would need to send about 102 ish visitors to my blog to get 1 sale a week. However, I could pay to get 100 people to my squeeze page… and now as that converts at 30% I have 30 ish new list members… with about 10 sales… woah… I just crapped all over my target. hahahaha.
