Using Social Networking As Part Of Your Internet Marketing Strategy

The biggest thing right now on the Internet isn’t Google, it isn’t Amazon, and it isn’t anything to do with the weather. Rather, the biggest thing on the Internet is social networking, and if you want to know how to get traffic to your website, then social networking is key!

As we’ve talked about in earlier articles, word-of-mouth advertising is the best form of advertising, and if you can get people talking about your website over the social networks then you’re bound to generate a lot of web traffic as a result. In this article, we will go over a couple of different ways that you can generate social interest in your website, and why it should be a focus of your Internet marketing strategy.

Create Social Networking Accounts

The first step in attracting social attention to your website is by creating a number of accounts on different social networking websites. The big ones are Twitter and Facebook, but that shouldn’t stop you from creating accounts for all of the major ones. After this, do a few searches for individuals and organizations whose target interests align with yours, and then send them friend requests.

Once you’ve established a small base of followers, begin asking them to share your website with their friends. You can even offer them discounts or special offers! This is a great way to generate traffic to your website.

But Don’t Overdo It!

Just because a hundred different people have accepted you as their friend on a social networking platform doesn’t mean that they want to read about your website every hour on the hour. Rather, hold off sending them too much content. Generally speaking, it’s best to come up with a schedule for your frequency of postings. If you update your website daily, feel free to broadcast an update each morning. Similarly, if you update only weekly, then never broadcast more than once each week.

Keep in mind that the best way to gain new followers and friends on social networking websites is to give them good reason to follow you. Advertise special, social networking-only discounts and contests, reveal exclusive information, and provide a great experience for them. This way, they will share you with their friends, and you will continue to generate a large amount of traffic for your website.
